When time runs out, I don’t want to be surprised… — The Isaiah 53:5 Project

Powerful stuff… Suddenly, a drunk driver doesn’t stop at the red light. A weak blood vessel in your brain suddenly ruptures. There is an accident at your workplace. Your heart… skips… a beat. Whatever the cause, your clock has run out. Next thing you know, you are standing before the judgment seat of God. Yes there’s a nagging doubt, but it […]

Reconciled back to God

Arc1
“MENDING FENCES”

Lv 4:5-6 If someone incurs guilt in one of those cases, he is to confess he has committed that sin. 6 He must bring his restitution for the sin he has committed to the Lord: a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering. In this way, the priest will make atonement on his behalf for his sin. [4:31b] The priest is to burn it on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. In this way, the priest will make atonement on his behalf and he will be forgiven.

As we carefully examine our reconciliation, let us consider the full weight behind the transaction that took place thousands of years ago on our behalf-our “Salvation” Let us prayerfully be transparent before the cross to allow our indifferences (to God),be exposed and come to light, as we learn to push-back against the proclivities of our sinful nature.

Under OT Law, atonement for sins were only acceptable through sacrificial offerings. Observing and submitting to these Laws was a display of a believers faith in the promise of the Sacrificial Lamb to come.

Understanding Sacrificial Offerings and their purposes:

OT sacrifices (Levitical Offerings) were divided into five categories: 1. Burnt,2. Meal, 3. Peace (Fellowship), 4. Sin, and, 5. Trespass (sin). Each sacrifice, Deliberate, and filled a specific requirement of man’s relationship with God (Lv 4:5-6). These sacrifices were made with the highest reverence for what each represented.

Provisions for Atonement:
Merriam-Webster
Atonement (n) to make reparations for offense/injury; satisfaction

Recompense: (n):atonement. to pay back in equal amount to injury, to give something to, by way of compensation (a for a service rendered, or damage incurred)

OT: Sin(un-intentional), Atonement(Sacrificial offerings), Restoration:

NT: Sin (un-intentional), Atonement(Recompense, repentance), Restoration(Un-merited Favor with God) through the Son.

Observation: Atonement was/is available for OT and NT reconciliation, Our focus should be on how and what changed to affect our attitudes of worship. We should be humbled by the price that was paid on our behalf, and relishing in the saving grace of Christ, as we hold fast to the virtues of our faith: 2 Corinthians 5:5 And the One who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a downpayment.

A NEW SEASON; When God needs us to move

wornboots

(2 Timothy 4:7) I have fought the good fight, I gave finished the race, I have kept the faith

Moses had been tasked by God with the epic responsibility of moving His chosen out from under the tyranny of Pharoah, and into the promised land. The theme of Exodus is Responding, and Finishing assignments; Pushing through challenges, despite facing insurmountable odds.

It starts with knowing our identity; New creatures in Christ(Ezekiel 36:26) Set apart for His glory:

Special Possession (segullah); Purposely selected:

Exodus 19:5-6 Now if you listen to Me and carefully keep my covenant, you will be My own possession out of all the peoples, although all the earth is Mine, 6 and you will be My kingdom of priest and My holy nation. Those are the words you are to say to the Israelites.

Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him ESV

It is not by consequence that we are here, Suffering, heartaches, disappointments and set-backs have purpose. Be encouraged! We are conditioned for our assignments in our seasons (1 Cor 9:24). Remain steadfast.
Exodus 3:17 And I have promised you that I will bring you up from the misery of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites-a land flowing with milk an honey.

Our assignment: “Always making preparations” Our obedience, and integrity is constantly tested. What does my faith look like under fire?

Exodus 19: 10-11: “The command” And the Lord told Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. They must wash their clothes and be prepared by the third day, for on the third day, the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in sight of all people.

Be Deliberate and Steadfast in our faith. We should be intentional in our transformation. We may be in-capable of invoking lasting inward change, though we hold the power of choosing to be available to these changes, and relishing in it’s reward:

Hebrews 13:5-6 5 Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have; for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you. 6 Therefore, we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid, What can man do to me?

Unmerited Grace and Provisional Faith 12.21

14 Therefore, since we have a great priest who has passed through the heaven-Jesus Christ the Son of God- let us hold fast to the confession
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested as we are, yet without sin Hebrews 4:14-15 HCSB

2015 - 1

In this passage, God the Father affirms three things about Himself: He is sovereign, and a just God; And He is a merciful God. There is nothing we will ever go through that is unfamiliar to Him. Psalm 139:1-6 To the choirmaster. A psalm of David. O lord, You have searched me and know me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path, and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O lord, You know them altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay Your hand upon me.. By design, Provisions were built into our faith-walks:

1 Corinthians 2:9a, 16-17. 9 But we do see Jesus-made lower than angels for a short time so that by God’s grace He might taste death for everyone-16 For it is clear that He does not reach out to help angels, but to help Abraham’s offspring.
17 Therefore, He had to be like His brothers in everyway, so that He could become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Born of the flesh (Jn 3:16), Suffered every injustice man could dish out; He was the object of threat and torture of the day (Isaiah 52). His suffering, brought our short-comings were to light, and, was obedient to the cross for the sake of our restoration and reconciliation. His kingship was confirmed by His rising on the third day. This is the gospel we preach! This is the reason for the season; The greatest gift we will ever receive.

Merry Christmas, God bless

In all we do, Seek the Lord

We are told be in constant preparation, and always on the look out for his coming, though, it would be impossible if we weren’t actively seeking him out. Our hope, that by leaning into Him in our seasons, we might become resplendent, and excited for His return

Seek (danash) Hb. vb.; to resort to, seek, the act of seeking

They were hungry, and came seeking; Their long awaited anticipation of a king turned to eagerness: Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived unexpectedly in Jerusalem, 2 saying,”Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw the star in the east and have come to worship Him.

He is there in times of our trouble. He will rain down mercy and grace on those who seek Him:(2 Chronicles 20:4) who gathered to seek the Lord, They even came from all the cities of Judah to seek Him Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, sought the Lord’s favor and protection against the impending invasion from the great armies.
Jehoshaphat assembled all the priests, and church leaders to the temple to pray for God’s favor and protection against the armies: (Deut. 4:29) But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after Him with all your heart and with all your soul ESV
