On Church Growth

QUESTION:

Can church growth be measured by the sudden upswing of visitors attending Sunday service? What about that recent expansion, and facelift to an aging structure? This is certain to attract new believers to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

AND LOOK! There are programs available to help fix and maintain these areas of church growth,

Smart Church Management’s (SCM) founder Patricia Lotrich help churches grow in areas of stewardship- managing resources like time, personnel and monies. Active network offers college courses on maintaining growth by evaluating your present infrastructure (Staff), Modeling health-Human mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual processes. They also teach how to do staff evaluations, document progress, and offer technological support. Surely, The church is growing, and we are capable of fixing ourself.
Truth is, We couldn’t be further off the mark-Our Accomplishments, and external efforts have taken precedence over the purpose of God’s church- Evangelism.

…since a church is a living organism, it is natural for it to grow if it is healthy…
If a church is not growing, it is dying…
(Rick Warren) “A Purpose driven church”

There is no “I” in church growth. Church Growth is “CHRIST CENTERED” (Acts 6:7) And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of priests became obedient to the faith. It is COLLECTIVE; We all have a place in reviving and nurturing the Holy Spirit for all who come seeking Him(1Corinthians 12:12)

The church is desperate need for revival, a re-invitation for the Holy Spirit to come and take up residency; (Psalm 85:6) Will You not revive us again so that Your people may rejoice in You?

Pray with me. Lord, I empty myself of all distractions, that I may be filled with a humble spirit-Your Spirit. Renew my mind, O Lord, help Your servant to remain focused on doing my part in the revival of Your church. Renew my heart and make me a pleasing aroma to You, and a light to all who come seeking Your face. In Your mighty name I pray, And all in agreeance say, Amen. God Bless

(Colossians 1:3-5) We always thank God, the Father in our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you 4 for we have heard of your faith isn’t in Christ Jesus and the love you have for all the saints.5 because of the hope reserved for you in heaven.
Although Paul did not plant the church at Colossae, he had the same love and passion for its success as he did with the others he did. Colossae was primarily made up of Phrygian, Greek, Roman, and Jewish citizens, and Paul’s concern was religious practices embedded in each culture had infiltrated the church, corrupting worship within the body.
(1Jn 4:13) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the anti-Christ, which you heard was coming and now is in the world today HCSB
Added to the Heresy, and false teachings of the Gnostics, and Jewish church leaders, was the angel worship, teachings of the visionary realm (Psychics),and Asceticism influenced by Hellenism (Greek movement throughout the Mediterranean, Asia, and Macedonia). Today we face the same challenges, and persecutions in our own Faith-walks, Now on a global scale.
The Scriptures tell us that we must mature in our faith [1Cor.3:1-2], That our spiritual immaturity make us susceptible;Vulnerable to falling victim to such teaching and practices. So, we must “Teach the Gospel of Christ”-Born in the flesh, Suffered, and was crucified to defeat a sin death which was deservingly ours, then rose on the third day that we may reconciled back to the Father and have have eternal life. Testify to his faithfulness, for these things He has done, and continues to do through us. Finally, Live out the faith we profess-Be obedient to the direction, and prompting of His Holy Spirit. Embrace His plan He has set before you. Lighttodarkness

As it turns out, my PC crashed, and I never got around to replacing it, so I’m already behind the eight ball. I tried to no avail to get ahold of one to finish preparing. Now, I’m feeling flustered because I’m so focused on this one aspect ( Of the preparation), that I loss sight, and the flow of this lesson I was about to give. Added to this, was another pressing deadline I needed to meet. I was actually convincing myself it was alright to let go of one of these, and deal with the consequences later.
(Luke 10:41-42) The Lord answered her,” Martha, Martha you are worried and upset about many things,42 but one thing is necessary-I missed the whole purpose of my assignment. Every so often, Submarines resurface to recalibrate itself to the earth’s azimuth, Just as we must do when we lose sight of the main thing in our own faith walk.

As I sat at the edge of my bed, I prayed for the Lord take control and work things out in His providence and power, and I submit I reservedly relinquished my power.
Praise God through whom all blessings flow that His Spirit cut through me like a hot knife through butter and in the end Everything (And then some), was accomplished, and all for for His glory. Aloha and God bless
